Computer Program

We are using: www.growley.com/cmas/

Some of the students want to use it at home too and have asked for the address. It has lots of links to activities you can do at home. I am trying to link it to our K site but if I can't, please use the above address to get on the program: Elle's Christmas!

Only 4 more Kindergarten days in 2009!

We have been super busy working on lots of Christmas themes and crafts. Winter has arrived and is making up for lost time! We will always stay inside in the morning until further notice. It is just too dark outside to play safely. Please remind your child to come inside when they arrive in the morning. When it is cold outside all students are kept inside at recess and noon.

Please let me know if your child has any planned days they will be absent before Christmas. I will be sending their shoes and water bottles home for the holidays. Please check their shoes to make sure they are still the correct size. Wash their water bottle and return everything to their school bag(water bottle, shoes, folder) and you will be ready for their first day of Kindergarten on Thursday, January 7, 2010!

Please have ALL library books returned by Friday, December 18th. We will be making our special Christmas lunch on the 18th too, so don't send a snack or lunch on this day. I will try to send all their Christmas crafts home then as their bag will be empty!

December is here!

I hope your child got their Christmas countdown tree and ornaments home safely and has it up and ready to start decorating! We will be working on Christmas activities everyday in December so please let me know if your child has any planned days when they will NOT be at school.

Don't forget the pre-ordered soup and stretchie lunch on Wednesday, Dec. 2nd.

We had our 30th day of school today and will keep working on the numbers from 0 to 5 and the letters: P, U, O, X, M, A, D, S, R, T, H, J, and K for the month of December. Thanks to everyone who is continuing to work with your child at home. The consistent practice is so important if your child is needing help with any of the above numbers and/or letters.

Some reminders....

I hope the H1N1 Clinic today went well! With the 11th off for Remembrance Day, Kindergarten will not have school until Friday, November 13th. This is also Report Card Day so if your child is absent please have a sibling pick it up or stop in yourself if possible if you want the Report Card before the 17th. Again, I would like to let you know about our 3-Way Conferences on the 17th and 18th. I have 3 or 4students scheduled at the same time as you will be working with your child at 3 stations and meeting with me for the 4th. If you have other children in school please read the pink note that was sent home with the interview schedule about a place for your other school aged children to wait for you to attend their interview. New format-but I am sure it will give you a very clear understanding of their strengths and weaknesses at this point in our Kindergarten year!

November is here!

Please remember to wash their water bottle and stick it into their school bag on Monday. If sending Halloween treats with their lunch or snack, please check to make sure that they don't contain peanuts. I will be testing all this week so I hope to see them all at school on all of our 3 days! Hope everyone had a "boo-tiful" Halloween!

"Gotcha" Assembly and Education Week

Tomorrow, Tuesday, October 20th is our Gotcha Assembly for K-5. Summer Stang is the Gotcha winner for Kindergarten this month-congratulations Summer! Everyone will get a point for their intramural team by wearing a "wacky" hat tomorrow!

It's Education Week and parents are invited to have lunch with their child any day this week(for us that is tomorrow and Thursday). We have lunch at 12:10-just come to the classroom if you can make either day. Don't forget to stop by the office on your way to the classroom to check in. Hope to see you all!

These are just reminders to previous emails!

School Pictures

What a class of "cuties"! All pictures, orders and retake requests need to be returned by Thursday, Oct. 22nd. If you want a retake the pictures need to be returned to me as this is the ONLY way I know that your child needs a retake. Retakes will be on Thursday, Oct. 29th-which is a Kindergarten day.

Lots of Reminders for Friday, Oct. 9th!

Lots of things happening for today:
1. we will be delivering our food collected to the Food Bank by noon. Please send items with your child if you are participating tomorrow.
2. ALL library books need to be returned. If not returned, your child can not pick a new book
3. All students should enter the school through the K-1 entrance. At this time of the year with boots, mitts, etc. they need to remove their boots to walk to our entrance (if entering through another door) and often have difficulty carrying everything through the school.
4. Cup cake day tomorrow for the K kids only!
5. I wish everyone a very HAPPY THANKSGIVING and hope everyone has an enjoyable long weekend. I will see all my K kids on Wednesday, October 14th.

End of September Reminders

Six days of K already and most are settling in and have our morning routine mastered-way to go! Don't forget about the Terry Fox Run on Friday, September 25th-please send shoes for your child for walking(no flip-flops) and that each student will get a hot dog and juice for lunch. Just meet us at the front of the school if you want to walk with us. The Volunteer Calendar went home and I will return it with your day/s marked on the 25th. If you return it late, I'll try to fit you in if possible. Get their smiles ready for the 29th! By the end of the month everyone should be entering and exiting the school independently. Please meet your child on the sidewalk by our entrance. Please do not ask them to meet you in the playground. If I don't see you I'll keep them in the entrance until you arrive.

Thank You!

Thank you for the pleasure of having your child in my Kindergarten classroom! We had a very busy time in June finishing everything for their Report Cards, Father's Day and their own writing and word bags. I hope you have looked through their Portfolio with them and are as proud as I am of their accomplishments! I thank you for all the cards, stories and gifts on the last day-they are all very much appreciated! I hope everyone has a great summer and I will see everyone again soon on their way into Grade 1!

20 days and counting!

We will be hard at work for all our last days! Please help your child by reviewing all the letters of the alphabet and the numbers from 0 to 100. We are working hard on writing our own books and it's helping improve their printing and work skills. We need to practice, practice, practice and we will be ready for Grade 1.

Last week before Easter break!

I hope the sun keeps shining and that the students can just change shoes and run out for recess soon! Please remember to call the school if your child will be absent for any reason(753-2375). We have worked with all letters except Q, Y and Z to date. Please practice all the letters(both capitals and lower case) and the numbers from 0 to 20 with your child during the break. Try some short vowel words(cat, run, jet, ham, cut, pig, hog, hit, rust, best, etc.) to have them blend their sounds together to read a word. Practice printing all the letters and the numbers too. If they have lots of time have them make their own book and they can read it to the class during our first week back(draw the pictures and print a simple sentence about their picture). Have a great Easter break!

Last days of March!

Have fun getting ready for "Twin Day" on Monday, March 30th and Tuesday, March 31st. If your child needs a twin, just dress them in jeans and a white shirt(or mostly white) and I'll twin them at school.

If your child completed their "LION and LAMB" days for March, have them write down the number of days for each so we can compare the results on April 1st and 2nd.

Wear Green!

Remember to wear something green on Monday, March 16th and Tuesday, March 17th to celebrate St. Patrick's Day!

Pictures and videos on website

Please take a look at the pictures on our website. Parents and students are welcome to leave a message. I hope to hear from everyone very soon.
